Purifying Stormwater Runoff
Stormwater runoff would easily pollute our environment if we did not use stormwater filters to remove harmful substances from the water. In a major city like New York, stormwater runoff is channeled into the city's drainage system when it rains. Unfortunately, the water is not the only thing that goes into the drains; in a city like New York, you will find paper, trash, oil, gasoline, and chemicals in stormwater runoff. Thankfully New York, and other major cities, is equipped with stormwater filters. These filters are a part of the city's drainage system and they are capable of removing many pollutants from stormwater runoff. With these filters, the water and pollutants that drain from a city like New York would end up in our lakes and rivers. Ultimately, pollutants would be much more likely to end up in our fresh water supply without stormwater filters.
